According to the performance requirements and shape and size of cold work die steel, there are several cases of material selection.
(1) Dies that are not stressed, simple in shape, and small in size can be made of carbon tool steel.
(2) Molds with general force, complicated shape or large size during work can be made of low alloy tool steel (such as 9Mn2V, 9SiCr, 9CrWMl3, CrWMn, Cr2, etc.).
(3) The molds with high stress, high wear resistance, small deformation and complex shape are required to be made of high carbon and high chromium steel (Crl2, Crl 2MoV, etc.). Also developed several alternative steels for Crl2 steel (such as Cr6WV, Cr4W2MoV, Cr2Mn2SiWMoV, etc.), in addition, high-speed steel, low-carbon high-speed steel (6W6M05Cr4V, etc.) and base steel (chemical composition equivalent to high-speed steel after normal quenching) The steel of the base component is used to make such a mold.
(4) For the work under impact conditions, the mold with a thin edge is made of medium carbon alloy tool steel (such as 4CrW2Si, 6CrW2Si, etc.) with good toughness.
